Our Business

Oregon Basset Rescue was founded out of a need to provide adoption services for stray and owner relinquished basset hounds.  First the job was done by Emerald Empire Basset Hound Fanciers.  After a few years, they turned the rescue duties over to Oregon Basset Hound Rescue, a non-profit group formed in 1983. Oregon Basset Hound Fanciers continued to present the Basset Houind Games for a fue more years, turning it over to Oregon Basset Hound Rescue in 2005.  This is the third year we have had the Waddle.  It will be the second year where we collect pledges and award prizes to those bassets bringing in the most in pledges.  Afterall, we have Daisy Mae of the rescued Hillsboro 13 in our rescue now.  She has had many litters of puppies, now has mammary cancer, and has not received veterinary treatment until picked up by the Washington County Authorities.

Who We Are

Oregon Basset Hound Rescue is a group of dedicated basset hound lovers who do it for the love of cars-I mean dogs!  We work all long taking in stray bassets, referrals by animal shelters and owner reliquishments.  We then get these bassets ready to go for adoption.  We assess each one for behavior issues while the dog is in one of our foster homes. We take them to the vet and get them immunized, spayed/neutered, and get needed medical care.

We then try to match the basset with the perfect forever home, a place where the basset hound and the adopting human family will all be happy with the choice.
